This is the first I have heard of these. Do they cost less to take? Where all can you go? Can someone provide more information on these?

I've heard of these freighter trips. I think they have a few cabins available for travellers, however, you need to go along the route with the freighter ship - there are mail ships that take passengers. I don't think it is a cheap way to travel, and you are pretty much tied to the route that they are going on for their mail or freight delivery. The accommodation is also pretty basic, no frills.
