I have never been to Jamaica, but I have heard that the Islanders are always bugging you to braide your hair or other things for money.

I heard you can't even sit on the beach and relax without being constantly bothered by these people. Is this true. I would like to vist, but I don't want to spend my vacation telling merchants to go away every 5 minutes.

Well, I really can't answer your question since I have never been to Jamaica myself. But I've been to a place where there a lot of locals pestering me to buy their merchandise. I just acted that I couldn't understand them. Maybe you'd like to do the same.

I find telling them I don't speak Spanish, or English, only Chinese seems to get them to laught and bug you a bit less.

I guess it I tell them I don't have any money, that might work! LOL. I know that if I tell them maybe later, they will be back later!

Haha. If you're caucasian, they really wouldn't believe that you don't have money. Afterall, you went there for a vacation!

A simple no thank you and walking away will get rid of any of the locals. If you feel the people of Jamaica will be pestering you then you should probably visit somewhere that you will feel more comfortable.

Spudgee, if you are black and say that you don't have any money to the locals. You think it will be more convincing?
