its in modern day times and i was going to follow a few characters around the ship, and write their reactions and actions as the ship sinks, and their survival, or death
Resolved Question: if i write a story about a luxury cruise liner sinking will it sound 2 much like titanic? is that a bad thing?

That sounds interesting for me. But I think you need to be very creative to do it most especially the effects. The effects should be, somehow, modern to relate in the present situation as well. Well, if I were to choose, I would want animated characters to play in the story so that you can really see the art of the special effects, amazing setting and a lot more.
