I would love to have a vacation home here. We were just there over the summer and have thought about purchasing a home there for all of our family members to share. I'm just worried about making an investment like that into something that is not even here in the U.S.

You just need to check into whether foreigners can directly purchase property and if you put your cash down. It is extremely difficult in most cases to finance property outside the USA.

Grace, you may look into just getting a time share or even a rental. Buying property just for the summer could be a lot of upkeep and more stressful than you want to deal with. There are also beach houses you can rent for multiple months.

I'd rather do a timeshare myself. I think you would come into a lot of problems like Honeyblossom said. You're probably best to talk your siblings into a timeshare property rather than purchasing it.
